School Advisory Council and School Advisory Forum  

SAC and SAF meetings are held on a monthly basis.  All meetings take place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (except December) 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm respectively in the Media Center.  All are encouraged to attend. 


SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of the community–parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, business/industry people and other interested community members. The purpose of a SAC is to assist in the preparation and evaluation (developing and evaluating) of the results of the school improvement plan and to assist the principal with the annual school budget. Additionally, SAC receives funds "to be used at the discretion of the School Advisory Committee A portion of the money should be used for implementing the school improvement plan."  "The improvement plan shall include performance indicators which are measurable."  "Funding for use by the School Advisory Councils should be allocated directly to the School Advisory Councils, should be clearly earmarked for their use and is not subject to override by the Principal or interim approvals by school district staff. These moneys may be expended only on programs or projects selected by the school advisory council.  These moneys may not be used for capital improvement.


SCHOOL ADVISORY FORUM

The School Advisory Forum is a parent group that addresses facilities, legislative issues, district-wide issues, school-wide issues, and safety.

  • School Advisory Forum (SAF) is open to all members of the school and community.
  • No elections or dues are necessary to become a member.
  • Plans, develops, and implements parent/community programs and training activities.
  • Address parent/community concerns; works with administration to solve problems and initiate desired changes.
  • Identifies and coordinates the use of community resources to improve student achievement and school effectiveness.
  • Participate in increasing/sustaining high levels of community support for the school.
  • Assist SAC in identifying the educational needs and priorities of the school.
  • Participate in the preparation of the budget, and review budget related concerns.
  • Promotes innovation within the school-  takes risks; is a facilitator of change.
  • Knows and works with School Board Members, Superintendent, and local Government officials.
  • Facilities, Safety, Legislative, ESE, ESOL, Boundaries, Curriculum, Dress code, and Transportation are all issues addressed by SAF.

All students, parents, teachers, and community members are invited and welcome
to attend SAC meetings
and participate in the school improvement process.
